Connecticut DEP Boat Lauch is a point feature-based layer that includes all DEP boat lauch locations in the State of Connecticut. Types of boat launce in this layer include Trailered, Car Top and Carry-In.This layer is based on information that was collected and mapped at various scales and at different levels of accuracy using the 2004 othophoto as base layer.
Connecticut DEP Boat Launch depicts the location of all 123 Boat Launch locations in the State of Connecticut. This layer can be used with other Federal Property, State and Municipal property layers for a more comprehensive understanding of open space and recreation land throughout the State of Connecticut.

Connecticut DEP Boat Launch
The Connecticut DEP Boat Launch layer retains the feature types and information identified by the State of Connecticut, Department of Environmental Protection. All attributes have valid values. Values are within defined domains. The values in each field have been checked for accuracy by comparing each value to its corresponding value in the related field.
Point features conform to the following topological rules. Points are single part. There are no duplicate points. Points do not overlap. Establishment of logical consistency was performed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Environmental Protection using ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software to digitize and control feature topology in geodatabase format. No automated procedures or tests were performed to guarantee desired topology other than visual inspection.
The completeness of the data reflects the best available boat launche records within the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. However, there may be omissions due to file errors, incomplete files, missing files, or staff error in the file retrieval process. No indication of completeness percentage is possible.
No overall positional accuracy level can be established since a variety of methods was used to map, compile and digitize the DEP Boat Launch Layer. Consequently, the information can be assumed to be no more positionally accurate than the least accurate method.
The horizontal positional accuracy of this data is unknown.
Point features are approximate (alternate) representations for large area objects or observations having well-defined, visible, recoverable, or permanent boundaries or demarcations.
Point features are accurately positioned for these locations because objects were easily identifiable on the aerial photos.

Creation of the DEP Boat Launch layer from DEP 2004 orthophoto imagery. Feature digitizing and attribution (onscreen digitizing) - Using ESRI ArcGIS 9.3 software. The DEP 2004 orthophoto imagery layer is used as the basis for the creation of DEP Boat Launch layer. Feature location and attribute accuracy was visually checked and inspected by symbolizing and labeling features according to attribute value on the computer screen and verification from staff menbers, DEP Boat Launch maps on the DEP website and comparing this information to the original source data. These check plot maps were printed at the same scale as the source maps in order to visually inspect digitizing quality and the assignment of attribute values.
